About
Local Football Journal looks at association football where it is lived: around local clubs, grounds, matchdays and the people who make a game part of community life.
What we cover
Our interests include club identity, ground design, supporter customs, matchday routines and ways of taking part beyond playing. We favour subjects that stay useful and interesting after one fixture has passed.
Who it is for
This publication is for curious readers, regular spectators, occasional visitors and people finding their way into local football. You do not need to know every chant, competition or club tradition to follow along.
How we look
We make room for affection without treating every custom as sacred. Our writing distinguishes observation from fact, explains unfamiliar terms and avoids pretending that one club's habits speak for every ground.
Football is a place as well as a game
Scores matter, but so do the ground, the people who gather there and the small customs repeated each week. We look at those parts of local football with curiosity and a clear eye.
