Local Football Journal

Write for us

We welcome considered pitches about local association football culture: the places, customs, objects and forms of participation that help explain why a club matters to its community.

What makes a good pitch

Propose one focused subject, explain the central question and say what a reader will understand by the end. Ground the idea in a clear, checkable angle, and show why it suits Local Football Journal rather than a match report or general sports feature.

Useful subjects

We are interested in club identity, supporter rituals, ground features, matchday habits and participation beyond the playing role. Avoid claims that depend on access you do not have, unsupported superlatives or a pitch built around private information.

Send a proposal

Use the Contact page to send your pitch and a short note about your approach. Proposals are welcome; submission does not guarantee publication. Please do not send a complete article unless requested.

Our view

Football is a place as well as a game

Scores matter, but so do the ground, the people who gather there and the small customs repeated each week. We look at those parts of local football with curiosity and a clear eye.
